I don't think I have a memory not associated with a song.. or a song not associated with a memory for that matter. Smells and songs constantly remind me of random things in the past.
Last year when we were all reading about AT's story of love and loss I had a particular cd on constant repeat. I don't think I will ever listen to those songs again without thinking of his beautiful love for a woman that I never even met.

Karissa I can just see Andrew's face!

Madonna's "Get Into the Groove" and Dire Straights "Money for Nothing" always remimd me of a college trip to London.

Modest Mouse's "We All Float On" reminds me of good times riding around in a good friend's Jetta.

Several Neil Young songs, but especially "Wonderin'" remind me of college and my dad.

Several Carl Perkins songs remind me of my dad.

The Chocolat soundtrack reminds me of my lover and his cats, who are particularly fond of that CD for some reason. We often play this CD while I'm cooking.

Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and anything Fats Waller reminds me of an awesome bird I had while I lived at Maplehurst. Sigh.

The first time I heard Maggie May was on a car radio on my way to kindergarten. (circa 1970?) I can't believe the song still gets so much radio play. Like you said, it could be worse...

Songs come to me randomly based on geography, and I'm not sure why it is. There's never any reason I can imagine for it, but driving past certain places sometimes brings the same song to mind.

The only song that specifically brings a memory is Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent. I was living in Rock Hill, SC at the time and working as a laborer for these two brothers from Ohio. They were sheet rock contractors.

One day, sitting between them in the pick-up truck, discussing the trouble they would get in with the general contractor if they didn't hose the mud off the tires, the song came on, and as the driver gunned the truck to throw as much mud off the tires as possible, I had a certain redneck moment that I remember to this day.

When I broke up with my high school girlfriend of 1.5 years, I got in my car and turned on the radio.

Styx - Renegade. I don't know why, but it seemed fitting. Almost as if the "news is out, they finally found me" that I didn't like her anymore.

Anyway, I hate Rod Stewart, so I don't envy your aural memory.

I can't remember any songs, but I remember being interupted during "Days of our Lives" so I could push more. I was trying to watch a show, people! Also, your brother will never eat Honey Nut Cheerios again, b/c that's what he was eating when I told him about being preggers. I just saw milk and cereal come falling out of his mouth. No song, but a really strange silence.
