I haven’t had much to say lately.  I’ve been busy, maybe that’s it.  Some times, I have tons to blog about, but others, its tough to think of something blog-worthy.

So, I went to Pennsylvania!  We went to visit B’s grandparents outside of Philadelphia last philly-eternal-flame.jpgweek.  Since he’s such a Phillies fan, we also squeezed in a game.  We got to see the Phillies clinch the division lead by beating the Braves.  It was really an exciting game; I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more intense sporting event.  Everyone was SO into it.

We stayed with his maternal grandmother in Royersford, PA, about 45 minutes from Philly.  She lives in/near Amish country, so that was neat.  There are several Amish families that live near where I’m from but no where near the amount as there are up there.  I took a picture of the buggy parking at the market we went to.  I missed the opportunity to take a picture of the Amish (Mennonite?) woman mowing her yard, with a seemingly normal motorized push mower, but barefoot.  It was surreal looking, but I wasn’t driving and honestly, I don’t feel comfortable taking pictures of people like that.  It makes me feel too invasive.

On Saturday, we visited B’s paternal grandparents near Allentown.  His grandfather is very sick and it was important for us to get to see him.  We took his grandmother out to lunch so she got a chance to get away from the nursing home and caretaker duties, if even for a little while.  He had 5 cousins and two aunts show up as a surprise too.  The whole family was super nice and I really liked chatting with them.  I did feel a little like a dog and pony show, but that’s expected when a family member you haven’t seen in a while comes to visit with his “new” girlfriend.  People are understandably curious.

We went back to his Grammie’s house to watch the final (I really wanted to write “phinal”) Phillies game with her.  She is a HUGE fan, knows all about the team, stats, players, everything.  Its pretty cute to see B call his 83 year old grandmother to discuss sports, but when it comes to the Phillies, thats the case!

The Phillies won their division for the first time since ’93, I think, and we had a nice time with his grandparents.  The trip was really short, but I’m still gald we got to go.  Family is important to me, and I’m glad it is to him too.  I’m also glad he wants them to know me.  That’s about as nice a compliment as you can get!
