Shower Curtains

Why on earth do people still have straight shower curtain rods? I want to know.

My shower already had one of these nice curved shower curtains when I bought my house. I hadn’t ever seen one before, that I can remember, and I certainly hadn’t used one, but I instantly LOVED it. It ads a lot of room to the shower (I think they say 25%!), and I’ve got a nice-sized tub, without taking room away from the bathroom.

I always hated going to hotels and having the shower curtain touch me. Yuck. I don’t even want to think about it. But a lot of hotels are adding these now, along with nice rainshower heads, thankfully. It really makes all the difference in the world, at least to me.

I went to B’s parents’ this weekend and they had a regular straight shower curtain and I felt claustrophobic all of a sudden. And then when I got out, there was a bunch of water on the floor! Turns out the curved shower rod also helps keep the water from leaking into the floor.

I truly can’t believe anyone still uses the straight ones. I know it sounds silly and like nothing much but they really do add room and I never have water in the floor. Heck that was an aspect of showering I forgot all about until this weekend! Is there a reason NOT to use a curved shower rod?

  1. um…my shower rod is straight. i seem to be missing out on something here. I’ll get a curved one when lake is big enought to pull the straight one down on her head a couple of times!

  2. I think about this every morning in the shower. And every morning I remind myself that if we’re going to redo the bathroom, it doesn’t make sense to spend money now on a new shower rod, even though it would be nice.

  3. They’re worth it. $25 I saw online when I was looking for a picture. Maybe that’s an answer to those gifts you hate to get JAH!

And Karissa, you’ll get one for Valentine’s Day soon enough!!! ;) I didn’t even think of the kid safety aspect. I guess it wouldn’t fall onto a kids head because its further out than that. One you get one, you will wonder why it took you so long!
